No complacency vows Wesolowski.

James Wesolowski is determined he and his team-mates will not rest on their laurels despite moving a step closer to Scottish Premier League safety. The Hamilton midfielder was the match-winner against St Johnstone with the only goal of the game on Saturday.

"I think we're playing some good football and that's a promising sign," the Australian told BBC Scotland.

"We're too good a side to go down, but we know we can't get too complacent as there's still a long way to go."

With Kilmarnock, St Mirren and, in particular, Falkirk all losing, the result's importance did not seem lost on the Accies players and supporters at full-time.

But Wesolowski remains cautious, despite the 11-point cushion they have on the bottom-placed Bairns.

I think we're looking up and we know we can catch some of the teams above us

Hamilton midfielder James Wesolowski

"We'll just have to take it game by game and, maybe with the way we're playing, we can pick up a spot or two," he said.

"It's a big gap now, but you never know what can happen. The fact we were celebrating so much at the end was more to do with our form."

And Accies have every right to celebrate that form.

March furnished Accies with 11 points from the 15 available, with manager Billy Reid a favourite for the manager of the month prize.

"He deserves it, definitely," Wesolowski said. "I think the spirit we've got amongst the lads is showing in our football right now.

"Everyone's doing their jobs and it's working really well and we're just looking to carry that on for the last seven games of the season, starting with Rangers next weekend.

"It's not really the case that we're moving away from relegation. I think we're looking up and we know we can catch some of the teams above us.

"St Johnstone are only two points ahead of us now. That's a big incentive."

Wesolowski - who only recently returned from a lengthy spell out injured - was involved in an altercation during the second half with team-mate Mickael Antoine-Curier.

The Aussie laughed it off, with his boss Reid happy to have witnessed it.

"I'm delighted to see that," Reid said. "If James thinks Mickael has slipped up then fine as he would do the exact same to him.

"The players getting at each other is fantastic."

Reid - who echoed Wesolowski's thoughts of looking up the table rather than down - is determined his men take their March form into April.

"I think next week, when we go to Rangers, will be an indication of how far we've come," he added.

"We did really well against them in the three recent meetings and we can go there with a bit of confidence and try to play.

"We'll try to show the Rangers supporters that we're a decent side. We're a club on the up and that's important for me."
