Reid targets win in six-pointer.

Hamilton Accies manager Billy Reid believes Saturday's match against bottom club Falkirk could prove vital in the battle to avoid the drop. "If we win we go nine points clear of Falkirk," Reid told BBC Scotland. "If we lose the gap's reduced to three, so it's the proverbial six-pointer.

"I'm looking above us though. If we win we go five points clear of St Mirren, and go above Kilmarnock.

"That's the motivation we'll be using before the game."

Accies have now gone on a run of three games unbeaten following their win over League Cup finalists St Mirren last week.

And Reid is pleased they are returning to form now that their injury situation is clearing up. Only long-term absentees Derek Lyle and James Gibson remain sidelined.

"I did say judge us when we've got our players back," insisted the Hamilton boss.

"Mickael-Antione Curier being back is a big plus for us and Flavio Paixao is scoring goals regularly.

"Performances have been good. We're still not scoring the goals our play has merited. If we add to that we'll be even harder to beat.

"It's always been the case to look above us but it will be tight come the end of the season for quite a few clubs; not just Hamilton, Falkirk and St Mirren. There are two or three clubs with a long way to go yet."

Hamilton have not beaten Falkirk in their previous two Scottish Premier League meetings this season and Reid would like to see that change at New Douglas Park on Saturday.

"Falkirk over the last few weeks have been a wee bit unlucky in some games," he added.

"I watched them a couple of times. I saw them against Aberdeen and they were worthy winners. I watched them against Celtic and thought they were unlucky to lose 2-0 as they made chances that day.

"So they'll come here fairly dangerous, but we're the home side and feel it's a game we can win."
